Kickstarters, COVID-19 and new beginnings

Updated: Apr 4, 2020

March came in like a lion and out like a virus. But along with the changes we've had to endure, not all is bad....

Kickstarter and COVID-19

Amidst an ever-changing landscape, COVID-19 has proven to be the Thanos of the hour, ripping across the globe indiscriminately, affecting both people and businesses. It's clearly changed how we live and how we spend. We launched a Kickstarter for issue #3 of Mahoney's which deals with it's own invasion of sorts. A warring alien race that comes to Earth on a dare to conquer all of it's heroes and the population. Day one of the launch (March 2) seemed to get off to a good start, but as the virus news broke and the world watch ed as numbers climbed at an alarming rate, the campaign, like so many others saw a lull that continued up util the final week, where a one day surge took the campaign from 61% funded to 93%. It was a rallying cry that continued through to the final day. The COVID 19 pandemic continues, but we're glad to be providing some entertainment for a small segment of people to help get them through for a moment in time. If you missed the Kickstarter and would like to get a copy for yourself, we'll be setting up an online store in the days to come. In the meantime, you can email for information on getting either a digital or physical copy.

New Faces at the Bar

As we continue to try and grow the Hardine brand, we knew we had to look beyond our meager abilities. So we set out to find a new colorist and promotions person to help with just that.

After a 2 day hiring post on Facebook we received about 32 applicants from across the globe, ranging from first time colorists to seasoned professionals. The submissions were great and it took some serious scrutiny to decide on just one. But when the dust settled, a 29 year old pro from the Philippines stood as the clear winner. You can read more about Bryan on our Staff page and look forward to seeing his work on issue #4 of Mahoney's

Second to join was an ambitious go getter from the United States named Corey Christopher. Corey was an easy choice as our Digital Promotions rep since he had been aggressively promoting us for the last year anyway! The admin for several Facebook Groups and aspiring artist in his own right, Corey will help get the Hardline name out into the public and help generate awareness for us. Read more on Corey on the Staff page as well.
